WA Ingals Lake

Destination: Ingals Lake, Alpine Lakes Wilderness, WA, USA

Style: Hiking

Report: We finally got around to going to Ingals Lake.  It took us about 2 hours to drive there.  The hike has zero shade and would likely be hell on earth in the summer but, in September we lucked out and had crystal clear skies combined with 50 degree temperature - doesn't get much better than that.  For 3 miles you do a long gradual climb up to 6,500' at Ingals Pass.  Some people will tell you that you can go to Long's Pass and do a traverse over to Ingals Pass.  For those not in the know - this would require rock climbing as best as we could do - at the very least it'd be very slow going with lot's of exposure.  From Ingals Pass it's another 1.5 miles of confusing trial to the lake - which is just amazing.  The valley that this is in is huge - I would have had to splice together 20 or more photos to capture it.  It's so big that we saw a glider (sail plane) fly through it.  This is a must do hike in WA - and, at only 9 miles - it's not even that hard.  Just don't be a dumb ass like me... bring sunscreen (OUCH!)
